On Tuesday, March 5, two of our Wills Group Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) – “Families in Motion” and “Women of Wills” – came together with the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) to celebrate the establishment of two new scholarships tailored for CSM students: “The Families in Motion Scholarship” and the “Julia B. Wills Memorial Scholarship.”
Our Wills Group ERGs play a crucial role in shaping our culture, nurturing talent, and strengthening our ties with the communities we proudly serve. It was the innovative-thinking of our ERGs that sparked the establishment of these scholarship programs in partnership with the College of Southern Maryland (CSM).
“Families in Motion” chaired by Michelle Hackett, Sr. Recruiter, and “Women of Wills” chaired by Erin Bailey, HR Systems Analyst, are committed to fostering connections among employees with common interests and empowering them to drive positive change within their local communities. These groups have participated in various activities, ranging from educational workshops and lunch and learns to community engagement projects across the Mid-Atlantic region.
The Julia B. Wills Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of Julia B. Wills, the first female CEO of the Wills Group, will be available to CSM students enrolled in credit and workforce training programs who align with the “Women of Wills” ERG mission of empowering women from diverse backgrounds to pursue their aspirations.
The Families in Motion Scholarship is tailored to part-time CSM students facing family caregiving responsibilities.
Both scholarships are open to the general public and Wills Group employees alike, ensuring fairness through a blind review process. Furthermore, we at the Wills Group have been actively engaged in supporting CSM students through internships and informational sessions as part of our company commitment to investing in the community.
