Michael D. Hankin
Michael Hankin was elected to the Wills Group Board of Directors in January 2013. He is President and Chief Executive Officer of Brown Advisory Incorporated, a position he has held since the firm became independent from Bankers Trust/Alex. Brown & Sons on June 30, 1998.
He has spent over 25 years assisting a wide range of individuals and institutions with their investment and financial matters. He was formerly a partner with the law firm of Piper & Marbury (now DLA Piper). Mr. Hankin is deeply committed to the community and serves as chairman of the Baltimore Waterfront Partnership and Management Authority, trustee of Johns Hopkins University, trustee and Vice-Chairman of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Chairman of the Board of Managers of the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab.
He also serves as President of The Land Preservation Trust, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation, Chesapeake Conservancy, and the Center for Large Landscape Conservation. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.
Mr. Hankin received a B.A. and M.A. from Emory University in 1979, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received a J.D. from The University of Virginia School of Law in 1982.
