When Jim Wills co-founded this business in Southern Maryland over three quarters of a century ago, he had no idea that it would grow into the largest of its kind in the region, let alone one of the largest family-run businesses. He just wanted to make sure that we'd be known for our great customer service.
The reason is simple. His customers were his neighbors.
That approach was the reason for some extra-long hours to make sure that everyone's heating needs were taken care of. But it also formed the basis of a business whose success is ongoing and growing stronger with every year. And it formed the basis for our Philosophy & Values.
The Philosophy and Values are now written as a guide to everyone in our organization as a continuous reminder of our obligations to all with whom we come in contact. If the spirit of this booklet is to be realized, it needs to receive the personal endorsement of everyone within the organization. This set of principles is the motivating force behind our way of doing business, and the basis for self-evaluation in everything we do each day.
Today, despite changes that even the most forward-looking thinkers couldn't have imagined, our customer-sensitive approach hasn't changed. We provide solutions to customers' problems.
We still think of and treat every customer like they were neighbors of ours. (Chances are, they are!) We still encourage employees of The Wills Group and all its associated companies to volunteer their time for causes that will make a difference in our region. And we make it a point of pride that no customer of ours ever have less than 100% satisfaction with our service.
That's a tradition that all of us here at The Wills Group are proud to uphold.
